Kim Kort- KK Art Creations

: Self-taught abstract acrylic fluid artist

Artist Overview

I discovered acrylic fluid art
Acrylic cups of paint spill out onto a white canvas and the chaos in my head begins to calm. The pain and chaos subside, and an abstract creation is made from my heart and hands. The beautiful views of nature that I see each day are spilled out, and the paint interprets the visions that surround me. The abstract creation is then a vision for all to interpret; the colors, movement, and my view of nature.
I believe that the rules are there are no rules. Every day is a new discovery of colors, shapes, and beauty. The world has always been a canvas. For the past seven years, I express my views through the acrylic fluid art movement. Fluid art helped calm the debilitating migraines that I have suffered for years. Painting helps calm the pain and spurs more creativity by organizing the chaos that envelopes my head.
The paint spilling out then forms into a beautiful expressive creation.
How did I get here?
I am a midwestern Kansas girl who transplanted to Texas via Missouri and Georgia. The world became more beautiful and vibrant after marriage and having two children. Watching my children experience and see the world through traveling, museums, and everyday life, helped me pour paint to express what they have seen and capture those visions and moments.
Seeing is Believing?
My art gives the eyes an experience to move around the page to and feel and draw all it in. The interpretation is left up to the eyes and intake to translate it inside each of us. The artwork gives the person the opportunity to discover themselves and give the mind a journey to see and explore.

Giving back to the community
Each year now for the past several years I have had the pleasure of participating in one of the largest art giveaway events, International Art and Found Day. From over 36 countries and over 400 artists place their paintings out in their respective cities. The intention is for people who might not ever buy an original painting will now own one. I place three of my own paintings on various park benches and next to trees all wrapped up with a message “Free Art looking for a forever home” . People discover them and sometimes reach out and let me know they have discovered the artwork. I even get photos of the forever home and new space where the artwork is displayed.
I also donate paintings to various non-profit organizations to be auctioned off to help raise money for various causes. In 2019, I gathered artists from around Dallas to donate prints or original paintings to hang on the walls of a new counseling center in South Dallas, The Family Place, a Dallas shelter for people affected by domestic violence.
Currently I have the honor of being the President of the Texas Jewish Arts Association, and sit on the board of the Richardson Civic Art Society. I am a member of the Plano Arts Association, Visual Arts Guild of Frisco and the Visual Arts League of Allen, Texas.
