Comunidad by Brad J. Goldberg

Completed: Winter 2023/2024; Dedication Ceremony occurred on April 13, 2024
Project Lead: Sabine Senft

Description: Comunidad is a striking new sculptural installation that celebrates and invites the community to share a table. It encourages the community to gather and become part of this interactive artwork. Without people, this artwork is not complete.
The artist envisioned a series of three community tables and a performance platform to bring people together: for a small family picnic, a wedding, a reunion or Quinceanera, COMUNIDAD welcomes people to enjoy nature and each other’s company.

The Offering by Jhonattan Arango

Completed: August 2024
Dedication Ceremony: Will occur September 28, 2024 (click date for more details)
Project Lead: S Rodriguez

Description: This sculptural mural, titled “The Offering”, is an ode to immigrants and the sacrifices often associated with migrating to a new country, including seeing kids off to serve in the military. The narrative hits close to home for Jhonattan —himself a Cuban-born immigrant who served as a Navy medic for 8 years during the Iraq war. He describes his mother’s state during deployments as an interpolation of worry, acceptance, encouragement, and quiet dignity. This mural marks their 35th public art piece and honors community spaces such as the Jaycee Zaragoza Recreation Center, where so many people come to experience the love and support available to us here, regardless of where we come from.
