Adventures in Plunderland by artist Bonny Leibowitz
December 6, 2025 - January 10, 2026
FreeIn the solo exhibition “Adventures in Plunderland”, artist Bonny Leibowitz focuses on nature as an “ever-evolving system intricately intertwined with human culture”. The exhibition is free and open to the public and will kick off with an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025 at the Oak Cliff Cultural Center (223 W. Jefferson Blvd., Dallas, TX 75208).
Leibowitz constructs hybrid objects and installations that blur boundaries between the manufactured and the organic. Her large-scale installations combine mangled steel, plastics, salvaged architectural materials, tree roots, and branches with photographs that become structures depicting the aftermath of demolished buildings and storms. Informed by Post-Naturalism and fragmented memories of land and place, her installations function as “facsimiles of nature” considering complex dynamics around environmental stories, histories and constructed narratives.
In conjunction with the “Adventures in Plunderland” exhibition, Leibowitz will present an outdoor installation “Sightings from Plunderland” at the Trinity River Audubon Center. The outdoor installation will be on view December 13, 2025 – January 10, 2026. Registration is required and can be completed by visiting: form.jotform.com/253086329046055
Originally from Philadelphia, Leibowitz lives and works in Dallas, TX. She studied at Temple University at Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia, PA and has had work included in solo and group exhibitions nationally. In 2023, she was selected as a Visiting Artist at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. Reviews of her work have also been featured in notable publications including Southwest Contemporary Vol. 10 – Radical Futures, ArtSpiel and Modern Dallas. Leibowitz is a recipient of the Nasher Sculpture Center’s 2024 Nasher Artist Grant and was awarded a 2026 solo exhibition at Women and Their Work in Austin, TX.
