Culture of Value is a collaborative micro-grant program from the Office of Arts and Culture, Dallas Public Library, and Dallas Park and Recreation. 34 selected ALAANA artists and organizations will execute one-day, one-time projects at various City of Dallas public libraries and recreation centers during the month of August 15 – September 15, 2024. This program will reach at least two locations in every City Council District and will represent a wide range of art forms.
Selected projects are highly creative, unique, and fun for the whole family. From a hands-on rug-making workshop and discussion of shared cultural history; to a concert of pre-Aztec instruments; to a children’s art project about tradition of paletas (ice cream!) All will provide a service to the residents of Dallas and further the “Culture of Value:” the idea that the arts are essential to a thriving, equitable society within the city of Dallas (Dallas Cultural Plan, Strategy 14: Support for Artists.)
