We invite you to check out some of the Sensory Friendly arts and cultural activities taking place across the DFW metroplex.

AMC Sensory Friendly Films

AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down, so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing! Our Sensory Friendly Film program is available on the second and fourth Saturday (family-friendly) and Wednesday evenings (mature audiences) of every month.

Chuck E. Cheese Sensory Sensitive Sundays

Visit website for participating locations. First Sunday of the month.

Supporting families of children with autism and other special needs. Through our Sensory Sensitive Sundays™ program, participating locations open two hours early on the first Sunday of the month. They offer a quieter environment, dimmed lighting, and a trained and caring staff to ensure each guest has a safe, fun-filled visit.

Crayola Experience Sensory Sundays

Join us on the third Sunday of each month for Sensory Sunday! Enjoy the attraction adapted just for sensory needs.

Dallas Children’s Theater

With the mission of inspiring young people to creative and productive lives through the art of the theater, DCT is now proud to be able to create a positive, fun atmosphere for families with sensory friendly needs. A child with autism or some other sensory challenge who loves theater and the arts will be excited about this new program at DCT and, hopefully, with the transformational experience of theater, will be inspired to creatively contribute to the world and their community in their own way.

Dallas Zoo

The Dallas Zoo welcomes families to explore the Zoo without the noise, crowds, and stimulation of a typical day.

Explorium Denton Childrens Museum Sensory Friendly Day
(5800 I-35 Denton, Texas 76207) – 2nd Saturday of every month From October to May.

The museum invites you to explore during their exclusive event for children with sensory processing differences. Children with sensory friendly needs will have early access before the museum opens to avoid crows and loud noises. They will alter light levels and display volumes for these visiting hours. We will also have activities with offered adaptations. Noise canceling headphones and fidget toys are available for use upon request.

Sensory-Friendly Build-A-Bear Workshop

Visit website for different dates and times. Every Tuesday for the First Hour of the Day.

Build-A-Bear Workshop means fun for everyone! We’re proud to support children with autism and other special needs by providing sensory-friendly events at all Workshop locations. Sensory-Friendly time is designed to provide a less-stimulating Workshop experience that’s still fun-filled and unforgettable. Our Bear Builders are here to make sure each Guest goes through the Build-A-Bear experience in a way that’s comfortable for them.

Studio Movie Grill

Our sensory friendly Special Needs Screenings present movies with the lights up, the volume low, and moving around, talking, and even dancing in the aisles are welcome. 

Special Needs Screenings are shown on select Saturdays at 11:00am at all SMG locations unless noted otherwise. Tickets are available at the Box Office only as early as the Wednesday prior to these screenings. Tickets are free for all attendees and seating is first come, first served. Parental guidance is suggested.

State Fair Sensory-Friendly Mornings

Providing a family-friendly environment is at the core of the State Fairs mission. Therefore, the Fair is excited to bring back Sensory Friendly Mornings for a sixth year. The Fair collaborated with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards (IBCCES) and other local organizations to devise ways to make Sensory-Friendly Mornings beneficial and fun for all who choose to attend, with the goal of creating opportunities for people to experience the Fair in a more accessible way.

Texas Rangers – Accessibility guide & sensory resources

Located just inside the Toyota Southwest Entrance, our Sensory Room provides a safe and quiet area where guests can decompress if they are starting to feel overwhelmed or overstimulated. Guests at Globe Life Field can access the Sensory Room by asking for assistance from any Guest Services Representative who will direct them to the Sensory Room. 

Kimbell Art Museum – Studio A

Studio A, the Kimbell’s sensory-friendly drop-in play space for children (ages 5 and younger) and their adult companions, invites visitors to imagine their own adventure. This “please touch” room encourages families to experience art and community from an early age.

Meow Wolf Grapevine

Meow Wolf has completed a company-wide accreditation to enhance the guest experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive visitors. Meow Wolf is proud to be the only certified B-Corporation in the themed entertainment industry, with a team dedicated to social impact building a more inclusive and sustainable economy. Nasher Sculpture Center

The Nasher welcomes neurodiverse visitors. We are a certified Sensory Inclusive™ location in conjunction with KultureCity™. We offer the following resources for our visitors:

Sensory Kits: The Nasher Sculpture Center is a certified Sensory Inclusive™ location in conjunction with KultureCity. Sensory Inclusive Kits are available at the Admissions Desk upon request. Kits include a map of the Nasher Sculpture Center, a copy of the Nasher Social Story, headphones, a calming object, and a feeling thermometer.

Quiet Room: The Nasher offers a private space for visitors who may need to attend to personal needs. The quiet room may be requested at any point during your museum visit. To gain access to this room ask any staff member or security guard.

Sensory-Friendly Resources: Families are invited to learn more about our free Sensory-Friendly programs and online resources designed especially for neurodiverse visitors.

The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza

The Museum is committed to providing easily accessible and meaningful opportunities for all guests. It’s #worldautismmonth and they are proud to highlight the Museum’s partnership with @KultureCity, a nonprofit using resources to effect change in the community for those with sensory needs. KultureCity sensory bags are now available to check-out free of charge from the Visitors Center.

Sensory Days Dallas

The Dallas Sensory Consortium improves access to community cultural arts and entertainment venues for visitors with autism and sensory challenges. They offer Sensory Days to remove barriers to participation and promote engagement within the community.
